While living in Shanghai, California artist David Dieter, has been inspired by China’s customs, the community’s love of dance, and Shanghai’s neighborhoods. In a variety of different works and styles, he combines his passion for painting dancers and musicians with images of Shanghai’s residents and settings creating contemporary images of China with a western flare. David W. Dieter has exhibited his art in the US, Italy, China, and Thailand. His mixed media process includes oil and acrylic painted over canvas collaged with calligraphy and found papers. He has been painting since an early age and has displayed his art from the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts to the Dashanzi 798 Art District in Beijing. His art history, fine art and design studies include UCLA, UC Irvine and Art Center College of Design. He has instructed at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and owned an award-winning design firm in San Francisco from 2000-2006. Currently, David works from his studio in Shanghai, China. This is his third exhibition in Shanghai. |
