| Biography: |
Born in Xi'an in 1981, Zhang Xiao Dong graduated from the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in oil painting.
2004-2006: founder of Tranquil Garden Art training institutions for the college entrance examination
2005-2006: taught at the Xi'an Institute of game design and development
2006: admitted to graduate study in Yunnan Art Institute
2007: employed in the amateur art schools in Kunming
2008: employed by Yunnan Institute of the Arts Photography Studio, teaches Professional and Fine Arts II
Oil painting "Elderly" was selected first in Shaanxi Province Exhibition of Oil Paintings

| Statement: |
This series of works is my favorite long-term transition to oil painting portraits. They show daily life through the well-known characters with typical beauty. Using the basic elements of painting: composition, color theory, perspective, I try to create dynamic work, and thus convey the state of their lives and survival experience. My goal is to show the essence of contemporary art, fully and effectively reflect the present and the true face of my subjects.
